I believe India is now preparing ourselves the next leap.
In light of the growing need to balance compliance considerations with cost and other factors, and given the rising demands of a globalized multichannel market, we understand that apparel supply has become more complex. Once focused primarily on compliance and cost, the Indian manufacturers now need to take into consideration several other important factors. While we are diligently working to improve standards throughout the value chain, we must adhere to sustainability strategies consistently. I firmly believe these are steps in the right direction. We have to be prepared to take up larger roles. We need to gear up with mature sustainable design and efficient merchandising capability. We need to further develop our ability to cater to a diverse product demand from the basic to the value added and take it a notch above the rest.
All these will finally sum up to make India the sourcing destination of choice!
It just doesn’t stop at that! The incomparable infrastructural development, the renewed apparel cluster approach, the expanding network of highways and above all, our strong raw material and value chain, hold huge promise of a vibrant fashion industry. There is so much to create and work with. On the other hand, we have been actively working on product development and innovation. We have not only identified categories of apparel that hold huge potential for export from India, but, also begun work on those garment categories which have been vacated by other countries and present new market opportunities for us. We have partnered with international domain experts and forecast agencies to help us understand global needs and innovate to cater to them in the best manner.
Learning and innovation go hand in hand. Friends, the arrogance of success is to think that what you did yesterday will be sufficient for tomorrow. It isn't all over; everything has not been invented; the Indian adventure has just begun and lets all dive into it!
